Shutaf’s target population of children and teens with special needs is under-served by government agencies and local social services – they lack traditional developmental labels; their families struggle to find appropriate after-school activities and programs that answer their children’s needs. Shutaf families struggle financially, emotionally and socially, coping with job loss, poverty and family dysfunction in addition to disability.
Shutaf programs are available to children and teens with a variety of developmental issues as diverse as ADD, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities and general developmental delays. Typical children and teens are included into this majority group of kids and teens with special needs. Our aim is to make the program successful and possible for all who take part.
