Gettting dirty, being outside, splashing in the pool with friends, enjoying arts and crafts, drama, music and movement – every child deserves these moments during vacation periods but for kids and teens with special needs it’s not a given. Appropriate programs are not easy to find when you have a child with a physical, developmental, emotional and/or behavioral disability, regardless of the label or lack thereof.
Kids need to get out of the school building and be in the great outdoors. For many children enrolled in special education, this is easier said than done. Programs are over-crowded, under-funded and more often than not, take place in an institutional setting.
Shutaf gets children out of doors, enjoying nature and well-planned activities, exploring the world outside of the school building. That’s an important developmental experience for every child.
